Importing Information Requirements into Cobuilder Link
Streamlining your project by importing information requirements is now easier than ever with Cobuilder Link’s Import functionality. Here’s how to get started:
Access the Import Tool:
Navigate to your list of information requirements in Cobuilder Link, and click on the ‘Import’ button. A side modal will appear. From here, download the empty import template—this is where you’ll enter your information requirements before bringing them back into Link.
Understand the Template Structure:
The template is divided into several key fields. The first columns include Milestone, Purpose, Actor, Object, and Group of Objects. These fields help you define when the information is needed, why it’s required, who is responsible, and which object the requirements apply to. You can also provide additional details about the object, like definitions and related IFC entities.
In a separate section, highlighted for clarity, you’ll find fields for the required properties. Each property should be entered on its own line, optionally completed with its property set, definition, data type, units, and any enumerated values. Remember, properties that share the same combination of Milestone, Purpose, Actor, Object, and Group of Objects will be grouped together within a single information requirement.
Importing Your Data:
After filling out the template, import it back into Cobuilder Link. You’ll see a preview of the structured requirements in the Import preview window. If any data is invalid, it will be flagged, allowing you to decide whether to proceed without it or to correct the errors. Fixing errors might involve adjusting prerequisites or selecting the appropriate property for import. Your connected data dictionaries are available to assist you.
Finalizing the Import:
When you’re ready, run the import. The duration will depend on the volume of requirements being processed. Once the import is complete, you can share your updated requirements with responsible actors or enrich the BIM model directly.
