Assigning construction objects in Cobuilder Supply is an important step in ensuring the correct classification of products. The correct construction object makes it easier to identify any documentation discrepancies – such as missing declarations of performance, EPDs or BREEAM documentation – and lays the foundation for further data processing in the system.

You can assign product types both when creating new products and to existing products that lack a construction object.

Assigning product types when creating a new product

When you register a new product, you are automatically asked to select a construction object. You can search for the correct type in three different ways:

• Search by name
• Search by classification
• Search by construction object standard 

If you choose to search by product type name, simply enter it in the search field. If you are sure that this is the correct construction object, click on Assign selected and the construction object will be assigned to the product.

1. Search by name

Enter the name of the desired construction object in the search field. When you find the correct one, click Assign selected to assign it to the product.

You can also click on the construction object to see more information, including the definition.

If you want to change your selection before the product is created, you can delete the selected object. The system will ask you to confirm, and after you press Remove, you will return to the construction object selection.

2. Search by classification

Select the classification system and category from two drop-down menus. The system will then suggest relevant product types. You can also use the search field to enter the type name directly.

3. Search for document (standard)

Enter the name of a harmonized standard and see which product types are linked to it. Click on the name of the type, or use View details via the menu with the three dots, to see a more detailed definition.

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Click on Request new Construction Object.

We recommend that you include as much product information as possible, including documentation links, so that our team can help you effectively.

Assign product type to existing products

For products that are already registered but lack a construction object, you can do the following:

Go to Products and filter by Missing construction object via the red deviation field.

2. Click on the deviation Missing Construction Object.

A new window will open, and you will have the same search options as when creating a product: Name, Classification, or Product Standard.

Once you have selected the correct construction object, click on Save and Close.

You did not receive any results? Click on Request new Construction Object.

We recommend that you include as much product information as possible, including documentation links, so that our team can assist you effectively.

Note: Once the product has been created with a construction object, it cannot be changed afterwards via the user interface. Please contact our Support team if a correction is needed.

Next step: Fill in product data

After the product type has been assigned, proceed to the product display, where you can fill in relevant property values based on requirements and standards.
